What are the conditions for hiring a car?

You must have a European driving license that is at least two years old, an ID card or passport with current address. The minimum age for hiring one of our vehicles is 21 years old. To rent an A-1 vehicle, you must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driving license that is at least two years old, and for the rest of vehicle models and groups, you must be at least 23 years of age and have held a driving license for at least four years. Payment is with a credit card or debit card (which may require additional guarantees). Please see the rental conditions for more details.

What are the opening hours of the car pick up and drop off locations?

Our Gijón office is open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM, Saturdays open from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. On Sundays and bank holidays, please contact us by telephone  +34 985 17 65 65 between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. If you need to pick up a vehicle outside of our operating hours, you will need to pay a supplemental fee.

You can return a vehicle outside of our business hours with ease and at no extra cost: simply leave the vehicle’s keys in the key box in the car par at the drop off location.

Regarding our new Asturias Airport pick up location, we can only accept online reservations at the present time. 

How can I contact my local office?

If you need to extend or change your rental, you must contact our Gijón office during business hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM, Saturdays open from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Can I chose the model of the vehicle I hire?

Our system allows you to indicate your preference for a certain model within a group or category of similar vehicles, but the vehicle you receive will depend on availability. If the model you have requested is not available at pick up time, you will receive another vehicle in the same category. If there is no vehicle available in the category selected (B, C, C1, ...), you will receive a vehicle from a superior category at no extra cost.

However, we will always do all we can to respond to your needs. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any requests.

Why do I need to bring my credit card?

Unfortunately, credit card fraud is a common problem. For this reason, we require that you bring your credit card in order to avoid possible fraud and maintain our competitive prices. 

What is the fee for cancelling a reservation?

There is no fee for cancelling your car hire reservation if you cancel your booking  at least 48 hours before the pick up date and time. Please read carefully our CANCELLATION POLICY in our car hire conditions section.  

I have not received my booking confirmation via e-mail, what should I do?

If you booked over 24 hours ago and you have not received our confirmation e-mail, it has probably been blocked by the spam filter of your email client. Please check that our e-mail message is not in your Spam or Junk folder. If our confirmation e-mail is in your Spam folder, you will need to adjust your e-mail account settings so that it does not block the following address: If you cannot find hello! Rentacar’s confirmation mail in your Spam folder, please send us an e-mail or ring us on +34 985 17 65 65.

What payment methods does hello! Rentacar accept?

Payment will be made with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) when you pick up the vehicle. Visa and MasterCard debit cards are also accepted (not C-Karte). All other credit cards, such as American Express, are also accepted as long as the client contracts Total Comfort Coverage. The card-holder must be present when the rental vehicle is picked up. 

If you wish to rent a vehicle in your company’s name, you must indicate this before the car hire contract is made. The contract must include the name of the company hiring the vehicle in order to emit an invoice to the company. Once the contract is signed, it is not possible to change the invoice details.

Is it safe to provide my credit card details?

It is completely safe. Our site has an SSL certificate and operates in accordance with all major international security regulations. We are certified by Strato.

Why do I have to install myself any additional accessories?

Installation of extra accessories must be done by the person hiring the vehicle. This is a requirement of our insurance, so that in the case of any incident resulting from the incorrect installation of accessories, the company is not responsible for said damages.

Can I drive outside of Spain?

Yes, with hello! Rentacar, you may drive in any European Union (E.U.) country, but you must ask for authorisation prior to hiring the vehicle. If you do not ask for authorisation beforehand, any costs of incidents or damages will be your full responsibility. This includes: breakdowns, accidents requiring transport of vehicles or persons as well as rental car repair.

What happens if I request authorisation to drive in EU countries and I have an accident?

When you hire a car with hello! Rentacar, if you have requested and received authorisation to drive in EU countries, you are free to do so. International insurance coverage is included, which includes 24 hour international road assistance in the case of a breakdown or accident, as well as transport of vehicles and persons. However, we cannot replace your vehicle if you are outside of the country.

Does the international car insurance cover all of the European Union?

Yes, our international insurance has a daily cost between 6 € and 14 € a day, depending on the type of coverage.

What does comprehensive insurance include?

Comprehensive car hire insurance includes all accidents, both third-party and first-party damages, minus the deductible for the type or class of vehicle you have hired. For example, for first-party damages to a vehicle in the Seat Ibiza group, coverage is for 3000 € and the deductible is 250 €, so you would only be responsible for paying the deductible of 250 €.

You can also select TOTAL COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE 100% NO DEDUCTIBLE, wherein if there is an accident, vehicle damage is covered 100%. This coverage does not cover negligence, and you should review the conditions to see what it does and does not cover.

How do you handle personal data?

We ask for only those data necessary to process your reservation, and if you want to join the hello! Rentacar club, we will use this information to track your points and offer you promotions.
